David di Michele got the Gianfranco Zola era off to a great start at Upton Park, his shot taking a deflection off Taylor and sailing over the head of Shay Given. David di Michele got his second before the break, chipping around taylor and striking the ball into the Newcastle net. Matthew Etherington scored the third early in the second-half before Michael Owen pulled one back for the Toon.
