Liverpool and Steven Gerrard thought they’d scored in the second minute at home to Stoke, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Despite Liverpool having a number of chances in the first-half, it was 0-0 at the break. (First-half highlights here.) The home side continued to push for the opener after the break, both Keane and Torres went close with a header before El Nino then blazed over when he probably should have scored. Dirk Kuyt was the next Liverpool forward to go close.
